NinjA’fro's mission is to close the Afro Gap by connecting people with afro hair to stylists, salons and products that will provide them with quality care.

Our take

Today, people with afro hair in Britain lack proper access to quality hair services. They look to Instagram, word-of-mouth or chance to find a good hair stylist. NinjA’fro is an online marketplace to help make that discovery that bit easier, connecting people with afro hair to stylists, salons and products that will provide them with quality care.

Customer feedback is included in the platform, so unlike Instagram pages, which can be a measure of likes over experience, there are real-life referrals to draw upon. The onboarding criteria is also key to the business and reflects customers’ views. Many of the stylists on NinjA’fro have come through personal referrals or stylist services the founders have tried out themselves.

The vision is for NinjA’fro to be more than a platform for stylist to list their services, but also a place where they can build a community that can support them with their business and professional goals. The business is a commission-based model and there is no onboarding fee, which makes it accessible for smaller salons.
