Novoic's mission is to predict brain disease from the way we speak - decades before routine diagnosis. Their comprehensive speech analytics platform supports clinicians to identify and monitor subtle changes in speech patterns in neurological disease.
Our take
One in three people alive today will develop dementia. At the moment there is no effective treatment, as diagnosis happens too late. By the time a doctor is able to detect symptoms, most of the damage has already been done.
Novoic is a speech analytics platform that aims to detect the earliest signs of a neurological disease a decade before it is typically diagnosed, by using a short voice recording of natural speech.
They have amassed the world's largest dataset of speech recordings taken from pre-symptomatic patients in four major brain diseases and are also in the early stages of setting up pilot tests with top US and EU institutions to validate their technology clinically.
It is through their clever use of machine learning techniques that they will win and continue to develop their datasets to create more accurate and early diagnosis that is unable to be be done by humans. If successful it will be a tremendous breakthrough and lead the way for many similar tests to be carried out.
