Our take

Oak National Academy is an organisation dedicated to providing high-quality, free curriculum resources to teachers across the UK. It offers a range of materials like lesson plans, quizzes, and teaching aids to support educators in delivering effective and engaging lessons.

Oak has recently introduced Aila, an AI-powered lesson planner. Aila helps teachers create personalised lesson plans and resources quickly by using data from Oak's trusted curriculum materials. This tool intends to save teachers time, making lesson planning easier and more efficient.

As an Arms Length Body of the Department for Education, Oak is focused on continually enhancing its AI tools to better serve educators. With thousands of teachers already using its resources and positive feedback from initial tests, the organisation is well-positioned to continue supporting the education community and drive future improvements in teaching resources.

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave + 1 day each year in addition up to a maximum of 28 days (plus days between Christmas and New Year given)
  • 11% employer contribution to Pension (Next) with no minimum employee contribution
  • Our full-time weeks are 36 hours and compressed to 4.5 days so we have half day Fridays or one Friday off every fortnight
  • Although a lot of our work aligns around school terms, our employment contracts are year round
  • Some people love working from home (which is great because we are fully remote!) but others like to like to be around people and some just want to have choices. We are keen to support in all circumstances and we have a small office space in central London, and offer flexi-desk arrangements around the country if that is something you want. We also have termly all Oak meetings in person

Previously co-founded Ambition Institute. Prior to that, they were an Assistant Headteacher at Heysham High School, a Director of Policy and Development at Achievement for All and a Policy Advisor at the Department for Education.
