Our take

Oatly is a food production company that creates alternative dairy products for consumers seeking more nutritional and sustainable options. According to the company, clients choosing to drink a cup of Oatly instead of a cup of cow’s milk reduce greenhouse gas emissions, land use, and energy consumption.

Oatly sets itself apart through its patented enzyme technology that turns fiber-rich oats into nutritional liquid food, specially designed for humans' digestive system. Moreover, Oatly is setting out to develop products that have maximum nutritional value and minimal environmental impact, which is why all of the formulas behind its products are based on Swedish research from Lund University.

In 2021, Oatly went public, debuting at an impressive valuation of $13 billion - clear evidence that the company is one of the biggest players in the plant-based food market. Atop a series of new product launches and collaborations, such as with Ya YA Foods, the company has secured significant funding that will enable it to focus on capturing the "underlying global demand" for its products as well as make further improvements to its supply chain.
