UNESCO estimates that 60% of the world’s major marine ecosystems has been degraded or used unsustainably, which will effect many generations to come. OceanMind are uniquely positioned to help change this by redefining humanities relationship with the ocean.
They do this by monitoring over 5 million square kilometres of marine protected areas, keeping track of tens of thousands of fishing vessels. They make sure they are conforming to marine regulations by detecting, deterring and preventing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Using satellite and artificial intelligence they help authorities enforce more effectively and industry work more responsibly. As impact driven innovators, they are applying their skills into the wider shipping emissions arena, as part of the Climate Trace coalition, seeking to make climate action faster and easier by independently tracking greenhouse gas emissions in more detail.
