Our take

Ockam creates tools for development teams that helps build zero trust architecture. Using models that help data navigate multi-protocol systems whilst retaining end-to-end encryption which is private and secure, Ockam Orchestrator, the developer tool that is the company’s main enterprise-focused product, has been used and downloaded by thousands of open-source developers and companies.

With ever more companies using open-source software, the importance of start-ups like Ockam is increasing drastically. Having secure tools to build and analyse a company’s own software helps maintain flexibility and control, and with Ockam’s multipronged toolkit, both independent software builders and larger enterprises are catered to.

That’s not to say there isn’t competition from larger startups such as Particle, which has a five-year head start on Ockam. Regardless, Ockam’s 2022 round of funding emboldened the company to triple the size of their international team and saw them focus on engineering and product development team expansion.
