Omeda Studio's mission is to bring Predecessor to life.
73% employee growth in 12 months
Omeda Studios was created to fill the hole left by popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game Paragon, after Epic Games shuttered it back in 2018. Its own game, Predecessor, seems an increasingly likely heir to the MOBA throne, having been developed remarkably fast with the help of Epic Games’ free release of the Paragon art assets.
On top of this, Omeda Studios has been smart to build up its own community in tandem with developing the game. Predecessor boasts a dedicated Discord community, and had a 250,000-strong signup list prior to its PC release. These were remarkable numbers for a studio emerging from nowhere to release its first game, and contributed to the €19.1 million funding round it raised in 2022.
With the PC version well-reviewed on Steam, Omeda Studios has clearly delivered on its promise to the community, and has capitalised on the buzz it was able to build. Late in 2023, the company announced a closed beta for Predecessor on PlayStation, and it will be interesting to see if the game is as well received by console players.
