Our take

An enormous percentage of the world's population uses a web browser regularly, with most of these using default browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Safari. However, whilst these browsers work fine for general internet browsing and tasks, they are often not optimised for the growing number of ways we interact with the web, and this can create negative user experiences and even privacy and security vulnerabilities.

Opera develops web browsers and software that are designed to meet the growing demands of online performance, privacy and security. In addition to its standard Opera and its gaming-optimised Opera GX browsers, the company also develops a game creation platform, video games, and mobile apps.

Opera’s web browser has been around for decades yet is often associated with open-source OS’ such as Ubuntu and Linux, something that may result in an accessibility challenge for the company. However, Opera’s portfolio of Web3-optimised software shows great potential to change this reputation and put it on the cutting edge of software development, online security, and privacy.
