Our take
Wholesalers are beginning to feel the pinch. Supply chain disruptions are having a significant impact on business, and many retailers are opting to cut out the wholesale middle-man entirely. As an inherently low-margin business, wholesalers can’t afford to slip up. However, in a frustrating catch-22, these same low margins often mean adopting the digital tools to help them get ahead is also out of reach.
OrderCast is looking to provide a solution to this problem. It’s working on a turnkey ordering solution for wholesalers that takes the place of, or complements, a wholesaler’s pricey enterprise resource planning software. OrderCast delivers it, however, within the familiar environment of an Excel spreadsheet.
The idea is to provide a method of processing, finalising, and fulfilling orders that’s both easier and faster than copying across data manually. Whilst the platform isn’t currently live, it’s possible that this intuitive, simple approach could eventually offer the leg-up wholesalers are looking for right now to stay competitive.
