Our take
With companies coming under increasing pressure to decarbonise, they also face the challenge of negotiating volatile global energy markets as they attempt to build out green portfolios. Origami seeks to help these companies with its energy data platform which allows them to get a better view of power pricing and trading strategies.
Launched in 2013, Origami serves a number of high profile customers including SSE Business Energy, Ylem, and SmartestEnergy. This has no doubt been aided by founder Peter Bance’s robust background in the energy market, having previously served as CEO of Ceres Power and Non-Executive Director of Goodwolfe Energy.
With investment in renewable energy services hitting record levels, Origami’s established reputation put it in a good position to receive funding from Barclays, which it’s planning to use to drive an international expansion.
