Our take
Origin serves as the debt capital market’s “golden source of truth” for primary issuance - a digital application layer and transaction workflow solution that streamlines communication and collaboration during the issuance of fixed income instruments. Dealers, issuers, paying agents, exchanges, CSDs and more can streamline post-trade workflows by using or connecting to Origin at every stage of the trade, from the trade origination through the issuance process to settlement.
Origin is now used by over 20 investment banks and 90 borrowers in over 50 cities worldwide, including Barclays, Bank of America, Citi, and Telefonica. The idea for Origin was conceived after observing the frustrations of clients during the corporate bond new issuance process and being inspired by other successful examples of the transformative power of technology in financial services.
The company recently introduced Airbrush, the fixed income data standard, developed by Origin in conjunction with Clearstream and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Alongside this work, and with an experienced team combining background in finance and technology, Origin could lead the way in the digitisation of debt capital markets and streamline the way companies and investment banks work together to raise capital.
