Our take

Oval Money is a fintech company with two brands to its name: Oval, an app for financial coaching and saving; and OvalX, a Forex, shares, indices, and commodities trading app.

The former came first, and having tapped into the demand for better financial education – particularly amongst the millennial generation – the company’s subsequent move into investing has proven astute, with more young people investing now than ever before.

There have been a few changes at Oval Money in the last few years, with Guru Capital’s acquisition of the company and the departure of co-founding CEO Benedetta Arese Lucini. However, Guru Capital co-founder Luca Merolla, a computer scientist and Forex veteran, has taken up the reigns, and the company is eyeing up a strong phase of growth as it makes both Oval Money and Oval X available all through the UK and EU.
