Company mission

To improve healthcare by better understanding what patients think about the services they receive.

Our take

Standing for 'Patient Experience Platform', PEP Health is a social media listening tool, adding a new means of analysing and collating patients' feedback on the health services they've received. This offers real-time and detailed reporting of what patients really believe about the quality of their care, and enables providers to deliver better patient experience.

It aggregates information on every English acute hospital from millions of online comments and social media, before using high-tech machine learning to provide insights into providers' - whether NHS or private - weaknesses and strengths. This can lead to improvements in quality of care as well as patient satisfaction.

PEP Health allows providers to understand what patients think about their service, and consolidate excellent areas of care while fixing areas of concern. It also works with insurers and commissioners to work out with which providers their patients are most satisfied, so they can re-evaluate pre-existing arrangements.

Similarly, for regulators PEP Health can identify high-risk providers or departments to flag them up for investigation if required. Since founding, it has proven a useful and accurate predictor of CQC rating, offering real-time dashboards and ad hoc reports for optimal reporting.
