To unlock the potential of every footstep. To power progress & generate positive outcomes for people and the planet.
Pavegen is a British startup that has been disrupting the renewable energy space for more than a decade now. Not only does Pavegen manufacture tiles that convert footfall in public spaces into kinetic energy but harvests and analyses the data from the footfall.
Combining sustainable tech with data analysis software has proved an ingenious solution for bridging the gap between sustainability goals and business funding. Companies in the retail, transport, education, and city planning industries are incentivised to partner with Pavegen as their climate tech can actually help them build their businesses through consumer data.
With little in the way of competition in the renewable tiling space, Pavegen has climbed the ladder of funding to reach a late VC of $3.3 million in 2021, with funding partners including Wadi Makkah Ventures and Wealth Club. Pavegen is also moving into the smart city space, where they plan to incentivise not only businesses, but the general public to walk their tiles through a rewards system, even setting up charging ports for phones as a form of marketing. Pavegen hopes that this will pave the way for a sustainable ecosystem in the future, and has already partnered with city planners and architects across the world to build it.
