Our take
Agriculture, the oldest industry on Earth, is under increasing pressure from environmental issues and labour shortages, and increasing efficiency has become vital for growers to continue profitable operations. PickTrace delivers technology to modernise workforce management for agricultural companies, giving them the power to hire, rehire and assess workers paper-free and from one place.
Despite its importance, the agriculture industry has been slow to adopt technology, and clunky manual operations remain the norm. PickTrace began as a solution for use on the founders’ family farm, where they discovered how inefficient these manual practices were, and decided to create an all-in-one solution for similar businesses. Their application, the first of its kind, puts payroll, compliance and performance assessment altogether in one place, solving the most common labour issues for modern farmers.
PickTrace won the 2022 AgTech award for labour management system, showcasing that the company is a real innovator in the agricultural space. They serve some of the largest growers in the US, with a collective workforce in the tens of thousands, and are backed long-term by a successful investment firm.
