Doola's mission is to make death simple, stress-free, and sustainable, alleviating the logistics around death and funeral arrangements through its one-stop shop for the end-of-life process.
Funeral arrangement companies are certainly nothing new, and the industry is full of established family businesses steeped in tradition. The funeral sector, however, also suffers from lack of transparency, predatory business practices, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and a lack of consumer focus. This is what Doola is setting out to change.
The company sets itself apart by offering water cremations, also known as aquamation. This is a natural method of decomposition that uses water, not fire, to cremate bodies. Water cremation releases no emissions at all, drastically different to the 540+ pounds of greenhouse gases released during each flame cremation. The aquamation process is now legal in 23 states with more to follow.
By providing a sustainable solution in a market which has been traditionally slow to modernise, Doola have great potential to create a circular end-of-life process. The company are now focused on raising funding and building out their marketing, product, and operations teams.
