Grassroots and semi-pro sports clubs bring in hundreds of millions of pounds into the UK economy each year, but are overlooked by tech companies as clients in favour of larger, better-known teams and stadiums. Pitchero saw a lucrative gap in the market and has become one of the UK’s leading providers of web building, hosting and booking software for the semi-pro and grassroots sports industry.
Though it saw a slow start in the late 2010s, Pitchero found a winning formula in its mobile app that allowed teams to share and record highlights from matches. It’s now grown beyond a simple app and into online payments, member registration, team management and GPS tracking solutions, with 60,000 teams, 10,000 clubs and 1.5 million active Pitchero users under its belt.
As a leader in the market, Pitchero’s most recent endeavour has been a not-for-profit digital lottery to simplify and accelerate fundraising efforts for grassroots and semi-pro sports clubs - the Fundraising Club. This exemplifies the company’s commitment to a highly cherished but underfunded sector of the UK sports industry.
