Playbook allows fitness & wellness professionals to create, stream, and gain subscriptions for their content. Essentially, the platform is a Patreon or Subtstack aimed towards the health and fitness industry.
The company has been around since 2016, but secured major funding to scale operations as the Covid-19 pandemic forced trainers into the online space. Its reputation has been boosted by the rollcall of high profile, large-following content creators who use the platform, such as Boss Everline, Kenzie Morley and Nick Bare.
The next few years should be interesting for Playbook now that in-person training has returned. There’s plenty of weight to the argument that online training will remain a strong revenue stream, especially for creators with large followings. However, more grassroots level trainers may still be on the fence.
That said, subscription based services are on the rise with people more willing than ever to pay for the content they want, which is an encouraging sign for Playbook as it looks to keep appealing to both pro trainers and customers.
