Prepared's mission is to build software that saves lives, facilitating rapid emergency service response by providing real-time data at emergency locations.
Every day, half a million Americans call 911 to report an emergency, and whilst emergency services save lives, their speed and effectiveness are limited by technology. Even though most emergency phone calls are made on smartphones, emergency departments rely exclusively on the anecdotal data provided during phone calls.
Prepared provides a real-time data system for emergency services, allowing 911 callers to livestream, text photo/video messages over SMS, provide pinpoint-accurate GPS location in DMS format and integrate into existing PSAP processes easily. In doing so, Prepared empowers 911 operators to deploy the most effective response for both emergency and non-emergency situations.
The company has shown the potential to significantly innovate upon emergency services (which have traditionally lacked funding). Prepared have also avoided the often long cycle of government procurement by offering the service for free, and currently have over 200 cities signed up, across 40+ states (representing around 20 million citizens). It is unclear how the company will monetize in the future, but they have mentioned a possible freemium element to its service down the line.

At Prepared, we have the opportunity to save people's loves, bringing innovative, life-saving technology to the hands to our public safety officials. The work is meaningful, high-impact, and rarely in our lives can we truly have an opportunity to work in jobs that genuinely bring about positive change in society. For me, this means not facing the Monday blues at all and feeling energized when executing on critical functions in the organization

Meaningful work

Both in spirit and in operations, the company has taken strides to ensure every individual's opinion is heard. Senior leadership recognizes that the only way we can hit our company's goals and achieve our vision and mission is by having everyone contribute. Strategy is decided after a lot of input from ICs and operators, and is communicated and re-iterated through bi-weekly all-hands. Culture checks happen every other week where team members are recognized for all of their hard work.

Every 2 weeks, we run what we call a Culture Check where all of us go over the company's core values, and provide examples of team members who had been outstanding examples of these values. We also take time to have team-mates call out if certain values made it harder to operate, or if they conflicted with other values, leading to open , engaging discussions about how we work together better. Lastly, we have fun sessions like bi-weekly show and tells, game nights, team outings etc

I like to say that Prepared is a rocket ship. The opportunity ahead of us is huge, and we've got the right team, the right attitude, and the right mission. Our motto is "Our Software Saves Lives" -- and it's true, I've seen it. The whole team is motivated by this, and I believe we come in to work every single day exciting to have a truly meaningful impact on the world.

At the beginning of this year, we had a smaller team, a narrower vision, and only had 15 customers, covering just a handful of states in the US. Since that time we've grown a TON -- we now have over 300 customers, covering over 40 states and over 20 million US residents. Whenever we show our software to a new potential customer, they respond by saying "I can't believe this doesn't exist already, we needed this yesterday!" We continue to grow faster and faster, and we don't shy away from setting ambitious growth targets.

Our mission is to bring life saving software to everyone. What's great about our product is that it really DOES save lives. Our software has been used to: help administer CPR, deter domestic violence, find missing people, prevent suicides, help people lost hiking, and even in a bank robbery!
