Company mission

Propel's mission is to empower any business to reach their audience and tell their story.

Our take

Public Relations (PR) software is an emerging field with some successful players beginning to rise to the top. One of these is Propel, who are bringing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) SaaS model to PR agencies in the form of what they’re calling Public Relations Management (PRM) software.

The principal is very similar to CRMs: contact management, pitch tracking, and relationship building to help automate and optimise the client management process. Propel already count Google, The Daily Mail, and Textron as customers, so the model appears to be applying well.

Propel claim to have been first-in-field with this concept, and if that’s the case they certainly kicked off something of a trend. Prezly, Agility PR, and Pr.co are all among the crop of rival startups offering similar services to Public Relations firms. With VC investment fairly tepid in the PR software sector relative to adjacent sectors like sales or recruiting, competition for funding may get hot.
