Quantum Light is on a mission to revolutionise venture capital and growth equity by using technology and systematic strategies to identify the next 10x companies.
Founded by Revolut founder Nik Storonsky and run by CEO Ilya Kondrashov, who founded SMB credit fintech MarketFinance, QuantumLight emerged in the Spring of 2022 with an aim to leverage AI – as well as its core team’s experience – to source and back the next generation of tech unicorns, while freeing the funding process from human bias.
Storonsky’s reasoning for founding QuantumLight is that the VCs that support startups are still old fashioned in their operations, or “stuck in the 20th century”, as the company states. QuantumLight points out that while data-driven quantitative investing is a major part of hedge funds returns, only a fraction of funds make use of data science.
Though generating plenty of excitement in the industry, QuantumLight is still in its infancy and has been operating largely in stealth mode with a small core team of quant traders, AI scientists, and engineers. That being said, its first publicised capital raise was for $200 million, strongly indicating that the fund is one to watch.
