To drastically reduce the cost and headache of moving people and goods between coastal cities.
REGENT have been making a splash since the company’s recent launch with its plan to revolutionize travel between coastal cities. It’s developing a 100% electric seaglider, a cross between a hydrofoil and an aircraft, that will reportedly reach speeds of up to 180 mph.
The appetite for zero-emission transport is high across the board, but especially so over recent years when it comes to renovating passenger ferry travel. Ferries still run almost exclusively on fossil fuels, and batteries can’t meet the necessary engine capacity to replace this. Federal funding is being poured into local ferry services to help square that circle, whilst also improving and maintaining these services. So REGENT’s zero-emission alternative is likely to prove both a groundbreaking and highly scalable alternative.
REGENT has completed its first prototype and completed its first test flight in September 2022. While the company is on track for its sea gliders to enter commercial service by the end of 2025, it has already amassed a backlog of $7.5 billion worth of orders from commercial partners around the globe.
