ROXi’s entrance into the music streaming world hit the headlines partly due to its backing from pop stars such as Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams. Though the industry is already extremely competitive, ROXi’s focus on TV based streaming is really interesting.
The user experience of the likes of YouTube and Spotify is known to decrease significantly once migrated to television, so ROXi could be well positioned to capitalize with its niche approach. The fact that it’s a “freemium” product also makes for easier customer acquisition, with users able to pay for an ad-free experience.
The company is well funded, is backed by some major music industry characters, and is growing at a steady clip as it launches on more platforms and integrates with more major TV brands.
To achieve its publicly stated aim of expanding to over 500 million devices, ROXi is now focusing on increasing its headcount to forge new business partnerships and spread the word through the public.
