Our take
Quality assurance (QA) is essential to maintain the longevity of a product or service, but the process can be difficult for software-based startups. Software QA is a time-consuming process that requires a vast amount of resources, data, and staff, which new businesses often struggle to access.
Rainforest QA provides a platform for AI-human hybrid quality assurance to enable software developers to release new features at a rapid rate. Users must enter information into the system regarding what they need testing, and Rainforest QA employs crowdsourced human tests from Amazon's Mechanical Turk to optimize testing capacity. These testing processes are then learned through machine learning, allowing the testing process to be automative in the future.
The most interesting thing about the company is its approach to automation. Many startups are trying to replace human testing with AI from the beginning, but Rainforest QA recognizes that this is simply not practical for new and previously untested features. By using AI to record key-presses and clicks, the software can then automate what is essentially a human testing process.
