To protect livelihoods by building infrastructure for the global trade of agri-foods.
The food supply chain is an industry which is ripe for disruption. Two trends in particular are behind this. On the one hand, consumers are increasingly concerned with environmental and ethical sustainability. On the other hand, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed key issues with the global supply chain, as the flow of goods from producers to consumers struggled. What is clear is that companies need to use this as an opportunity to design their supply chain with future resilience in mind.
Founded in 2021, Red Sky is a VC-backed foodtech startup aimed at disrupting the existing infrastructure in this space. Its logistics platform connects food processors and manufacturers to procurement, freight and storage solutions, whilst at the same time providing a level of transparency and traceability which should appeal strongly to more climate-conscious consumers.
Of course, this is a competitive field. Red Sky will be competing with traditional brokers like Lamex, Ardo, Crops, Uren Group. That being said, Red Sky's relative youth gives it a great opportunity to start from scratch and build new solutions to the problems in this market that have held back its competitors in recent years.
