Our take

Relay Robotics makes robots for the hospitality industry. Specifically, it’s developed autonomous delivery robots that hotels can sign up to on a subscription basis, that use wifi to ferry around the different items and deliveries that guests often request in their rooms.

You may already have read about them - Relay Robotics (previously Savioke) has quietly become a major player in hospitality robotics in the US. Its robots are used at major hotel chains like Hilton, Marriott, Radisson, and Mandarin Oriental, as well as hospitals like Dartmouth and Georgetown. In 2023, it expanded its products with the introduction of Relay2, a hotel delivery robot that has twice the capacity of earlier models.

Diversifying out to hospitals was a smart play - and it no doubt helped insulate the company a little from the rocky period that hospitality went through over recent years. Furthermore, the fact that in 2023, 87% of hotels are short-staffed means that there is more of a need for Relay than ever before. The solid foundation that Relay Robotics has built up in this sector will provide a good springboard for growth, and they will do well to expand out even further to other areas in which this robot’s simple but effective function is useful.
