To help make laundry easier for our customers and help small businesses survive and thrive in the post-pandemic economy.
Rumby is attempting to do for laundromats and dry cleaners what UberEats and its ilk did for restaurants. Its platform connects them with customers and services like DoorDash and Uber, promising speedy collection and on-schedule delivery.
Rumby may have identified quite a blind spot in the fast-growing Delivery-as-a-Service industry in targeting laundromats and cleaners, a sector that’s barely changed in the last few decades and could no doubt use a fresh revenue stream.
The company started out purely as a B2B platform, connecting local cleaners and hotels, but has since also moved into B2C and residential collection and delivery.
Considering that busier lives, increased options and crucially, affordable prices, have taken food and meal-kit delivery from weekly indulgence to regular occurence, at least for the Millenials and Gen Z, the same could well happen for laundry. This is definitely a space worth watching.
