Our take

Within the London tech startup scene, companies face ever-intensifying competition for talent, funding, space, and the other resources they depend on to sustain their growth.

Helping them secure these rare resources is coworking space Runway East. Spread over 10 sites, it has over 5,000 members across its London, Brighton and Bristol locations. Current members include Deliveroo, The Hut Group, POQ and Immersive Labs, with a community that has raised over £1bn in funding to date.

It primarily focuses on fast-growing businesses, with teams anywhere from 10-100 people. It's clear that Runway East's subscription model offers the flexibility demanded by modern workplaces, and so it seems well set to continue the success it has seen in recent years.

Hannah has been with Runway East since the very beginning. After receiving 5 promotions in 9 years, she is now Head of Operations, managing the Site Ops & Community Teams.

Within the first two years of joining, Oli was quickly promoted and is now Runway East's Marketing Lead.

  • At Runway East, we're fighting against boring office spaces and trying to save the planet while we’re at it. With there being such a big ‘return to office’ movement at the moment, our aim is to make coming back into an office space an enjoyable and inclusive experience.
  • It's important that we do this the right way: both sustainably and ethically. From the way our spaces are maintained, cleaned and heated, to the suppliers we use, and the way our teams work, we've made commitments with Runway East to ensure we're representing a cleaner and more ethical new world. A big part of our strategy is to minimise any negative impact on the environment and society, and become a force for good.
  • We believe that by building a diverse team at Runway East, we'll be set up to do this the right way. Coming back to the office will affect all types of people, so we need diversity within the organisation to not only help great businesses from all around the UK grow, but to make the world a little bit better, whilst bearing everybody in mind.
