Saildrone’s fleet of USVs (Uncrewed Surface Vehicles) have reportedly clocked in over 1,000,000 nautical miles and 32,000 days at sea, indicating the important position they hold in US security and climate research. The company’s fleet of drones sail across and below the ocean, using machine learning to analyse and collate data for scientific and defence purposes.
Founded in 2014, the company has expanded its presence across the country through significant funding rounds and has been part of deep sea discoveries such as undersea volcanoes and an important player in maritime defence mapping.
In 2023, the company launched its Saildrone Voyager model, the first USV to be launched with certification from the ABS Requirements for Autonomous and Remote Control Functions. As a dominant force in the space, Saildrone’s technology will no doubt continue to be a leader in the unmanned ocean vehicle sector.
