Our take
The soaring demand for AI-enabled microchips, in part sparked by interest in Large Language Models and generative AI, has caused many countries to try and outpace China as chip manufacturing leader. Sapeon is part of South Korea’s bid.
This hyper-cloud AI processor manufacturer creates chips, cards, and servers as a “cloud AI-as-a-service" solution. Its chips provide cost-efficient and flexible semiconductors that are competing against other up-and-coming markets in India, the US, and Japan.
Sapeon has offices in South Korea and California and has enjoyed considerable funding over 2022 and 2023. Its most recent Series A will be used to expand its operations and accelerate R&D of its products.
