Their mission is to connect people who want to learn, with people that can teach. Students can ask questions on any subject, get answers from tutors and follow up by booking lessons or joining classes.
Scoodle aims to connect teachers with people who want to learn particular subjects. The platform lets students post questions, which tutors are then invited to answer as a way of boosting their reputation and influence. This also acts as a way for them to generate more tutoring work.
In the UK, tutorful, tutorhunt and MyTutor are the dominant players, but Scoodle’s differentiator is a focus on the personal brand of the tutor. They also have a 0% commission model, and charge tutors a flat fee of £15 a month to be part of the platform.
The global tutoring market is worth around $200 billion and there are a lot of small and medium players, leading to the market becoming fragmented. With the huge funding from Google, it will be used to build a network of tutor influencers.
