Our take

Second Nature is a digital behavioural change programme designed to help people with type 2 diabetes manage their illness by living more active lives, helping to prevent or reduce their symptoms. The company worked closely with in-house dietitians, psychologists, and behavioural change specialists to tackle this pressing issue and create the programme.

The company produces a fitness wristband that monitors the user's steps, sleep, heart rate, and weighing scales to track their progress. The products use a small SIM card and Bluetooth to automatically sync with the user's phone, which provides real-time updates on their condition over a six-week period.

Impressively, Second Nature is the first digital lifestyle change programme to be used by the NHS. The company has also teamed up with Dr. Rupy Aujla from The Doctor’s Kitchen, who is an NHS GP and Sunday Times bestselling author who believes that food can have powerful medicinal effects.
