Our take
Investing in the early stages of a business startup can be a highly lucrative opportunity to help innovative companies raise the capital they need to commence business. However, startup assets are generally not available to individual investors outside of venture capital bubbles due to their high-minimum and high-risk investments, preventing most investors from accessing the asset class.
SeedInvest provides an equity crowdfunding marketplace, allowing individual investors to access the startup asset class as angel investors. The company offers lower investment minimums than traditional angel investment firms allowing investors to diversify their portfolio, with each listed startup being vetted through a curation process of due diligence.
Whilst angel investment is technically already available to anyone with sufficient capital and expertise, SeedInvest has recognized that the high-risk nature of high-minimum startup investments has siloed the asset within venture capital circles. By providing lower investments, the company allows individual investors to spread their investments across a larger range of companies, increasing their chances of positive returns whilst increasing crowdfunding access for startups.
