Increasing numbers of startups are getting funded in the UK and all require legal help with their financing.
SeedLegals identified a big burning pain: no founder wants to handle a bad fundraising experience because of legals. Previously founders would have to pay a decent chunk of the money they've just worked hard to raise, but the SeedLegals platform has provided a step change in cost.
The focus on a very specific niche (startups) has meant they have built a very tailored product, and word of mouth within startups is strong.
While they primarily focus on helping companies with fundraising, they also offer additional services (e.g. option schemes), and they're in a strong position to expand their offering to other legal needs.

There are plenty of opportunities to develop your career - great work is recognised and we regularly have promotion announcements on weekly our team standup calls. You can progress into a team lead position quickly if you put the work in and take ownership of your progression. There are also opportunities for lateral moves and we’ve had people move eg from the legal team to the development team and from customer experience to sales/account management. So you can really build your career and gain experience in various areas.

I’m working with so many industry experts with a wealth of knowledge in different areas, and everyone is really happy to share their knowledge with you. It’s a really open culture and you can learn a lot from people both within your own team and outside. There are also secondment opportunities across teams so if you join for example the customer experience team but you’re curious to see how the tech team works you can apply for a secondment to work with the tech team for a few months.

Everyone takes real pride in their work and works hard. There’s a real team spirit which has been great to see even though the team has almost doubled in size in 6 months. You’re expected to put the work in but there’s also a lot of support from the team - everyone is super nice so its easy to ask questions if you get stuck with a project. There’s also a lot of trust, you can take ownership of your projects and there isn’t a lot of micromanagement that you sometimes see in other companies.

There are really so many opportunities to learn. In my team (CX) you have the chance to learn about the startup industry as a whole, as well as the innovative products our company offers. We have legal training on a variety of different areas, and also have regular Q&A sessions with our CEO!
