Our take

There are over 18 million people struggling with a mental health problem in Germany and the pandemic has only catalysed the trend of mental health self-care.

Selfapy is taking on this challenge with a unique approach - self-help therapy programs, lasting anywhere between 6 to 9 weeks. Each program is tailored to a different mental health stress and aims to provide help to those struggling to access in-person therapy.

The company is aiming to refine its product, ensuring the highest quality service, while deepening its partnerships with Germany’s various insurance providers which deliver users and revenue for the app.

While the app has aided thousands of users in Germany so far, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, expressed through a technology platform, may only appeal to a segment of those facing mental health troubles. The company will have to expand its services to achieve its mission of appropriate mental health support for all.
