To bring the sharing economy to the table by empowering its Shefs to make money from their personal kitchens.
60% employee growth in 12 months
As consumers continue to turn toward more convenient options, the demand for food delivery services is ever-increasing. Whilst services such as Uber Eats and Grubhub provide fast delivery and variety, people still crave authenticity and home-cooked meals as an alternative to fast-food takeaways.
Shef is an online marketplace that connects customers to local home chefs with an aim to provide a more authentic culinary delivery experience. The service runs as a browser and smartphone app, allowing users to order home-cooked meals days in advance to prepare food for a busy week.
The startup has taken an interesting stance on food delivery by staying away from short-notice and mass-produced meals, instead focusing on meal planning and authenticity. Furthermore, Shef provides an opportunity for local chefs to make a living from their homes, in a landscape where hospitality is dominated by food chains.
