To encourage people to find joy from selling.
Shpock exists to solve a deceptively simple problem: what do we do with all this stuff? An online marketplace which touts the joy of selling, it wants to help declutterers, the eco-conscious and people who just want a bit of extra money in their pocket to sell the things they don't want in their lives.
Shpock isn't alone in the marketplace business but it does have an advantage over its main rivals in the range of its products and its zero transaction fees approach, relying on income from advertising and subscription fees. That and its playful advertising, attractive to a younger market segment, has driven it to be one of the largest European marketplaces with millions of active users selling more than €100 million worth of goods on the platform monthly.
Shpock was initially funded by the Adevinta (formerly Schibsted) group of online classified sites, which has purchased full ownership of the company in 2018. Shpock's main goal is currently to improve profitability and has brought in a new leadership team to accomplish this.
