Our take

SimplyCook is a subscription business that provides customers with recipe cards and ingredient kits that help them prepare high-quality food at home in less than 20 minutes. It delivers nearly 1M recipe kits every month.

Competing against other meal kits such as Hello Fresh and Gousto, SimplyCook differentiates itself by not sending all of the fresh ingredients required for its recipes. Instead, it focuses on ingredients kits which consist of herbs, spices, sauces, and other extras needed to cook each meal. This is advantageous for consumers who can't fully commit to the fresh food alternatives and, as a result, SimplyCook has a broader mass-market appeal.

To fuel its growth ambitions, SimplyCook has attracted equity funding, directing investment toward expansion efforts across the UK and international markets, as well as into marketing initiatives and technology development. A pivotal moment in the company's trajectory occurred with its acquisition by Nestlé. Despite maintaining its base in London and being led by its founding team, SimplyCook now enjoys the backing of Nestlé.'s expertise and operational support, ushering in a new phase of development and potential for the subscription-based culinary enterprise.
