Sketchfab's mission is to turn 3D into a mainstream media format.
Sketchfab is one of the largest platforms for interactive and immersive 3D technology, where creators can showcase and sell their work. Additionally, Sketchfab offer businesses the ability to include 3D, customisable models on their ecommerce platforms, and AR try-before-you-buy product experiences.
This latter avenue should be proving a hugely profitable move. The benefits of detailed AR product modelling are becoming apparent, with over 90% conversion lift reported for brands adopting the technology. Industry-leading brands like ASOS and Gucci are leveraging the tech, and interaction with AR ecommerce features has been growing steadily - especially among Millenials and Gen Z. This is likely to spur on widespread adoption of AR ecommerce tech by brands that need to stay competitive, and Sketchfab will be there to provide the solution.
Sketchfab's impressive community of online creators and 3D objects will also see them proving invaluable as the Metaverse begins to be populated. The company was acquired by Epic Games, and has integrated with spatial data giant Matterport, both of which indicate that it will be leveraged in the growing push to develop virtual environments.
