Our take

Skyscanner made booking flights easy at a time when you previously had to trawl through many websites to compare flights.

They built a great brand and product by focusing on consumers, enabling them to grow massively through word of mouth (a lot of the traffic is direct, and people go straight to Skyscanner when they want to search for flights rather than starting with Google).

Skyscanner also had a really strong content marketing strategy (for example having the #1 result on Google for 'what is the best time to book a flight'), which helped supercharge their growth.
