With cloud migration and distributed working environments, digital spaces are more complex than ever, and establishing practical Zero Trust has become a priority for organisations. Unfortunately, managing certificates across whole and dispersed systems can prove difficult – this is a problem, because this is vital in fighting the modern aggressive nature of cyber-attacks. Smallstep delivers automated certification for development environments, with an open-source toolkit that can be employed with ease.
Development environments rely on certification to maintain security protocols, but it is difficult to maintain visibility or establish ownership for these certificates at scale. Smallstep’s infrastructure security service identifies everything and everyone and issues credentials automatically. The toolkit can also be employed to encrypt data and communications, and drives a strong security policy overall.
Funding raised by Smallstep will be used to build products, and also to accelerate research and development towards bringing new features and expertise to securing infrastructure, with aims to ultimately bring automated certificate management to all.
