Our take
Children’s literacy has lost momentum over recent years, with school closures and at-home learning hitting youngest children especially hard. Fortunately, advances in speech recognition across the board are beginning to create some useful tailwinds for educators needing help catering to the individual literacy requirements of children. Soapbox Labs is leading the way in this field, creating speech and fluency detection technology designed specifically for the speech patterns, dialects, and cadences of kids.
It may be in part this rise in demand that has spurred on Soapbox Labs’ impressive growth over the last couple of years. The company have struck some crucial deals, including one with MetaMetrics which will see their Fluency technology taken to classrooms across the US.
Breaking into the US market may prove a pivotal step for the Dublin-based company, with the region boasting a healthy kidtech market and in similar need of solutions to the swelling literacy crisis.
