Our take

Though it acts in a similar fashion to a consultancy firm, South Pole, the Zurich-based climate solutions provider only comes on board for a project after its green-lit, rather than advising on potential solutions. This key difference for the project implementer means that it has become a proactive part of the global green energy push since its founding in 2006 and searches for real results in the fight for Net Zero.

Working across emission reduction, climate, and environmental protection, South Pole partners with companies to help create ways to lower their carbon emissions. The founders are experienced in the industry too, with many having met at the MyClimate foundation whilst others are renowned entrepreneurs. This coalition of capital and climate knowledge has helped South Pole become a unicorn company.

Whilst other similar companies fall short on actual results, South Pole has many achievements under its belt and continues to be an example of proactivity and profitability in the climate sector. In 2022, South Pole partnered with Canadian delivery business Sendle to create carbon-neutral shipping solutions and has developed sustainability projects with Nestle and Swiss bank UBS among many others.
