This is especially true for food products, and can make it difficult for larger brands to keep up. Spoonshot is a company aiming to help food brands capitalize on nascent trends before they even hit the market, by leveraging big data.

The company uses AI to pull organized, useful information from unstructured data. This includes crawling the web for domain data to transform into food trends, or using their “foodbrain” artificial intelligence to recommend product concepts. It’s likely to attract them good attention from larger incumbent brands: current methods for product research and development in the food industry often deliver slow, limited, and frequently outdated information.

Spoonshot has been using its recent funding for marketing, something the company hadn't done upto that point, and hiring out its team.
