Stake's mission is to create a platform that offers seamless access to global financial opportunities to the new generation of investors.
The U.S. stock market is home to some of the world’s most attractive investment opportunities, but they’re out of reach for many foreign investors, for whom engagement requires hefty foreign exchange fees. The market constitutes over half of the global stock market, though, so there’s much appetite for a more financially viable workaround. This is exactly what Stake, a commission-free digital brokerage platform, provides.
Stake have established a strong regional presence in Australia, boosted in part by an investment-savvy millennial demographic with a large GDP, who have not been wooed by institutional banking’s various efforts to get hold of their savings. It’s propelled Stake towards global expansion, with operations open in the UK, New Zealand, and Brazil.
It’s precisely their tight market focus which may have helped them launch successfully in these other regions. Their U.S.-market only approach, overlooking casual retail investors in favour of experienced hands, carves them out a different niche from that fought over by companies like Robinhood. With substantial scaling efforts underway, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their affordable edge as operations expand.
