To define a new category of food ingredient: sugars made from plant fiber.
Sugar plays a huge role in triggering diabetes, which affects one in 20 people in the UK. Supplant's substitutes are aiming to solve this through its healthier sugar replacement which is made from agricultural resources.
The food supplement market is worth more than £400 million in the UK alone, with significant growth expected as the healthcare industry moves to a more personalised approach. Supplant's sugar replacement is prebiotic, gluten-free and lower in calories. Moreover, the sugar from fiber tastes the same and is made from waste materials of plants (such as rice/wheat straw) that would otherwise not be utilised.
With backing from the likes of Manta Ray, Khosla, Felicis, EQT, Coatue and Y-Combinator, Supplant is expected to grow into new markets in the UK and beyond as the company takes on the mammoth industry.
