Our take

Furniture is typically expensive because of the overheads of warehouses and retail shops. There have been a number of retailers who spotted the opportunity to deliver furniture directly from the suppliers to customers.

Swoon's focus in on distinctive design at an accessible price, and competes against Made.com. Swoon has partnered with Debenhams in London's Westfield shopping centres as well as a 2023 partnership with M&S to showcase some of its ranges, whereas Made.com has launched its own display store in London.

Swoon is using real-time sales data in a smart way: they test demand quickly and then scale production on only the most popular pieces.
