Tape's mission is to mobilize people to experience the best of the world and make it better too.
Following a difficult few years, the return of in-person socializing and business has brought with it the experience economy - and it’s booming. Tape is looking to capitalize on this, by combining the tried-and-tested event/experience discovery platform formula (think TimeOut, TripAdvisor, Atlas Obscura) with the recent trend for curated consumer content.
The company’s app, still in stealth mode, promises highly curated and collaborative lists of experiences and personalized recommendations, along with ‘Tapes’ - which work like trailers for the experiences. Tape looks set to place a substantial emphasis on aesthetics, which is likely to play well with the growing Gen Z demographic.
Furthermore, the company’s focus on quality over quantity is a distinguishing move among other event platforms. Plus, it aligns Tape with other curation platforms with limited content that have proven popular with younger audiences - Mubi, for example, or Stack Magazines. So Tape is applying an interesting and popular selection of trends to what is likely to prove a blossoming market. It will be interesting to see how the brand develops.
