To give young people with cancer the best possible care and support, through treatment and beyond.
Every few hours in the UK, a young person hears the words, "you have cancer" but until the Teenage Cancer Trust came along, there was no such thing as specialist care for them. Teens and young adults were treated like either children or older adults, with little thought for their specific needs. Since 1990, Teenage Cancer Trust has completely changed that, fighting to give young people the care, respect, and support they deserve.
They're now the only UK charity dedicated to providing specialised nursing care and support for 13 to 24-year-olds with cancer. They fund 28 specialist wards in NHS hospitals and back expert nurses and youth workers who help young people through the toughest times of their lives. In 2024 alone, they supported around 2,200 newly diagnosed young people and invested over £11M into their care and services. And everything they do (from emotional support to creating spaces that feel more like home) is powered entirely by donations.
Teenage Cancer Trust will always be a vital cause, and partnerships like Aldi's recent £350,000 gift from its apprenticeship levy are a huge boost to their future. This funding will go towards expanding their nursing support, making sure more young people don't face cancer alone. As a charity that relies entirely on public and corporate donations, this kind of backing helps them keep pushing boundaries and reaching more lives across the UK.
