Our take
Terra is an early-stage Y-Combinator company that makes it easy for developers to access fitness and health data from wearables and sensors, such as Fitbit, through a single API that connects thousands of devices and services.
Terra solves the problem surrounding fitness data "silo-ization". Its APIs allow fitness app developers to hook into fitness and health data generated by software and hardware, permitting them to better connect their services and enabling data to be shared back and forth.
After Terra's successful first round of fundraising, its priority is to expand its team as it looks to grow. The company is targeting integration points first with companies that offer APIs, then SDKs and, after more funding, Bluetooth-enabled health wearables.
Both Founders were featured in Forbes 30 under 30 Europe list and have considerable experience founding startups, so the company is well-placed to achieve its aim of connecting more developers with health data.
